Los Angeles Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a masterclass on the mound Tuesday, throwing seven shutout innings with 11 strikeouts as the Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 4-0 in their home opener at Dodger Stadium. Yamamoto allowed just two hits and one walk in the dominant start.

The right-hander's fastball sat at 97 mph throughout the outing, and his splitter was virtually unhittable, generating eight swinging strikes. Manager Dave Roberts praised the performance as one of the finest Opening Day outings he's witnessed in his managerial career.

Offensively, Mookie Betts provided all the support Yamamoto would need with a two-run homer in the third inning. Freddie Freeman added an RBI double in the fifth to pad the lead.
